Shoot and Share
Right now, most of the photography community is voting in the Shoot and Share contest. But maybe you haven't heard about it, and you might wonder, "what is that?" Well, Shoot and Share is the world's largest free and fair photo contest for photographers by photographers. It is an international competition with an anonymous voting system. Photographers from all over the world enter their photos without watermarks. There are 25 categories, and voting goes on for twelve rounds.
This contest is a great way to discover talented and inspiring photographers, new trends and styles, and to get feedback on your photography. Here you have some stats about the Shoot and Share contest in 2019.
- 583,150 photos submitted
- 16.4K photographers participating
- 174,215 voters from 144 different countries
- 90+ million votes cast
The final results will take a couple of weeks, but these were the numbers five days ago.
- 561,997 photos submitted
- 78,900,769 votes
- 110,249 voters from 118 different countries
- 1,322,336 favorited photos
So far, voters have spent a total of 93,855 hours voting! That's 3910 days! Or ten years! And that was five days ago! The truth is, voting is highly addictive. Ten minutes will turn into hours because the amount of talent and inspiration is absolutely insane. After spending some hours voting, I can say what the elements of an image that speak most to me are.
The ones I love the most are the images that move me. I have laughed, and I have cried with these photographs. As Paul Caponigro said, "It's one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like. It's another thing to make a portrait of who they are." If you want to see beautiful images and be inspired, check the best of the best right now.
While we wait for this year's results, check my images from last year.
