Legacy is not leaving something for people. It’s leaving something in people.

(Peter Strople)

Last December, Marilyn Solanke Napoleon interviewed me for her In-finite Light Zone podcast. We talked about Inspiration and Legacy.

Something shifted within me that day.

Even when, deep down, you know something, there is power in saying words aloud.

I realized that everything I do, every photography service I provide revolves around it:

It was serendipitous: Odette Photo+Art has always been about documenting and building Legacies.

A portrait is more than just a picture – it's a visual representation of who you are and what you stand for. It captures your essence, personality, and story. Future generations will glimpse your life and values when they look at your photographs.

That's why no two Odette Photo+Art portrait experiences are ever the same. They are custom-made for each person, family, and business.

If you’re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased.

(Maya Angelou)

What's a legacy?

Legacy is "developing and passing on a timeless part of oneself." It's something we "leave behind," but we build our legacy every day through the things we do, the choices we make, and how we make people feel.

What's my legacy?

Marilyn asked me this.

I want to be remembered as someone who positively impacted the lives of others. Odette Photo+Art represents who I am and what I stand for: I'm always looking for ways to improve myself, learn new things, and give back to those around me.

OPA is the best part of me: my baby, my brand, my business, my purpose.

That's why my legacy is my art. My legacy is photographing you in a way that's authentic to who you are. We might be documenting the present, but that's also a part of your legacy.

All good men and women must take responsibility to create legacies that will take the next generation to a level we could only imagine.

(Jim Rohn)

How can I help you build your legacy through portraits?

I can capture your unique essence and style. I will craft an exceptional portrait experience that you will remember forever, and we will create images that go beyond traditional portraits and evoke genuine emotion.

Here are a few tips on building your legacy through portraits when you decide to invest in high-quality portraits:

  • Get creative: Portraits don't have to be traditional. Get creative and find a place that holds special meaning for you: a park, beach, or even your own backyard.
  • Show your personality: Portraits are a great way to show your personality and express who you are. Select clothing and accessories that reflect your personal style and interests. This will help to create a portrait that is unique and personal to you.
  • Share the memories: Once you have your portrait, share it with your family and friends. Display it on your walls. This will help build your legacy and ensure that your story will live on.

Please think about your legacy because you are writing it every day.
