We Rise by Lifting Others: Why I Love Supporting Local

I've always believed that we rise by lifting others—and one of the most meaningful ways to do that is by supporting small, local businesses. These are the heart and soul of our neighborhoods, giving them personality, passion, and purpose. Can you get that from Amazon? I don't think so.

Sure, it’s easier to shop online or at big chain stores. But every time we choose a local business instead, we invest in someone’s dream. We strengthen our community. That’s why I was so excited when I discovered Little Local in November.

Little Local is a local marketplace app created by two inspiring women—Kylie Wang and Katelin Stecz. They’re warm, kind, and truly passionate about helping others succeed. Their mission with Little Local is to help small businesses grow and connect with people in the community. The app is super easy to use—you can discover hidden gems, unlock special discounts, and support the businesses that make our neighborhoods feel like home.

But this isn’t just about shopping. It’s about connection. It’s about building community right here in Coral Gables.

As a local photographer and photo restoration expert, I care deeply about seeing our city thrive. That’s why I love what Little Local is doing—not just digitally, but in real life too. I went this Sunday, camera in hand, to document the Artisan Market and meet the amazing vendors behind the booths—and I left feeling inspired.

If you’re in Coral Gables, don’t miss the Little Local Market at Books & Books every other Sunday. It’s a beautiful way to connect with small business owners and discover one-of-a-kind treasures.
