I can't wait to see Jen inspire us all and attend the conference that inspired me to become a better version of myself eight years ago.

Capturing her image through my camera lens was a privilege, and I loved capturing her essence in my photographs. The experience of meeting and photographing Jen has significantly impacted my well-being, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have connected with such a passionate advocate for well-being.

Massive shoutout to Amy Fields for making it all happen and to Collage HairStudio for beautiful hair and makeup artistry.

Tell me more about you and what you do! What projects are you working on now?

I’m a Chief Well-being Officer, author, speaker, and podcast host! One cool thing I’m working on now is preparing for my upcoming TedX Miami Talk in May!

What's well-being?

Each person’s definition is going to vary because well-being is very personal. Your definition will depend on what’s important to you, and it may even change throughout your life journey. My personal definition of well-being is: eat, move, sleep, and find joy!

What would be the top takeaway from your book Work Better Together?

Relationships are vital in the workplace and in life! Social connection is critical to our health and well-being and considering we spend about 1/3 to 1/2 of our time at work, the workplace is an essential place to develop the relationships we all need to thrive.

Top well-being advice for solopreneurs?

I think there is a myth that if you’re an entrepreneur, then well-being isn’t a concern because you are doing what you’re passionate about. But in reality, passion doesn’t preclude from burning out. In fact, they may be even more prone to burnout because of that passion. That’s why it’s so important to make self-care a priority and to check in with yourself on a regular basis. Even when you’re very focused on your work, you must ask yourself, do I feel well? Am I getting what I need? Do I need to take a break? It’s important to be proactive about protecting your health and wellness.

Why was this portrait session important to you?

I’m not a fan of having my picture taken, but photos are necessary for the work I do! I needed images that truly reflect me as a person, and given my camera-shyness, capturing that can be difficult. This session not only made me feel comfortable in front of the camera but it empowered me to show my authentic self! I think that the images Odette captured are a true reflection of me and show my personality and what I stand for.

How was your experience with Odette Photo+Art?

I was drawn to Odette’s work because of her focus on branding. She takes the time to understand what you’re all about and brings that through in images. As mentioned before, I’m not a fan of getting my picture taken, but Odette made me feel completely comfortable. I honestly had a lot of fun, and you can see that in the photos.

What was your favorite photo?

I love the photo of me jumping in the air! It’s a really joyful image and represents my love for movement and just having fun!

What advice would you give to other women considering being photographed?

Don’t be afraid to let your authentic self shine through. You don’t need your photos to look like everyone else’s standard corporate headshots! Have fun with your session and trust that your photographer will make you look your best!

Favorite quote or saying?

I think the shirt says it all!

I’m all about protecting my self-care boundaries and getting enough sleep is one I stand by consistently.
