A day like today, in 1933, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was born.
Today, I celebrate the life of RBG.
On her birthday, I give you Leah as Notorious RBG!
Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the second female justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. She served as the director of the Women's Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union during the 1970s and was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in 1980.
Some of her most famous quotes.
"I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability."
“Fight for the things that you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”
"Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time."
“So often in life, things that you regard as an impediment turn out to be great, good fortune.”
"Don't be distracted by emotions like anger, envy, resentment. These just zap energy and waste time."
"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn't be that women are the exception."
"I think the simplest explanation [of feminism] is a song that Marlo Thomas sang, 'Free To Be You and Me.' Free to be, if you were a girl -- doctor, lawyer, Indian chief. Anything you want to be. And if you're a boy, and you like teaching, you like nursing, you would like to have a doll, that's OK too. That notion that we should each be free to develop our own talents, whatever they may be, and not to be held back by artificial barriers -- manmade barriers, certainly not heaven sent." -Ruth Bader Ginsburg
You are limitless.
