Becoming The Girl with a Pearl Earring

I have always dreamed of recreating Girl with a Pearl Earring, a painting by master Johannes Vermeer. It has always been one of my favorite works or art.

Vermeer painted the Girl with a Pearl Earring circa 1665-1667. It is an oil on canvas that measures 17.52 × 15.35 inches [44.5 × 39 cm] and it permanently resides in the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague.

The Girl with a Pearl earring became one of Vermeer’s most famous pieces by the turn of the 21st century. In 2006, the Dutch public selected it as the most beautiful painting in the Netherlands. There is even a Girl with a Pearl Earring movie starred by Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth.

When the Getty Museum challenged people worldwide to recreate famous works of art using items from home, I decided to honor the master painters.

Once again, Leah made my dream come to my life. Her chameleonic beauty makes it so easy to transform in every possible character, from Sleeping Beauty to Wonderwoman, to my very own Girl with a Pearl Earring.

For our version of Girl with a Pearl Earring, we used two yellow shirts, a blue t-shirt and a pearl earring. We also used window light, plus Leah's natural knack for the camera.

That's why I am so proud to present you with Leah with a Pearl Earring.
